MADISON, WI – Dane County Judge Everett Mitchell has endorsed Susan Crawford for Dane County Circuit Court judge.

Judge Everett Mitchell is a circuit court judge focusing on juvenile delinquency and family cases. Also a pastor, Judge Mitchell is deeply involved in reducing racial disparities in the justice system and advancing equal opportunity in the community. Judge Mitchell led the charge to eliminate the use of restraints formost juvenile offenders in Dane County courtrooms and has developed strategies to help ex-offenders avoid recidivism.

“Susan Crawford shares my commitment to the constitutional guarantees of equality, fairness, and justice for all,” Judge Mitchell said. “I know Susan will be an important ally on the Court in confronting and eliminating racial disparities in the justice system. Crawford, a partner at the Madison law firm Pines Bach, has broad legal experience litigating high-profile cases in the Dane County circuit court, circuit courts around the state, and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Crawford began her career as an assistant attorney general at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, handling hundreds of criminal cases. She also served as chief legal counsel in the office of Governor Jim Doyle.

Crawford is running for Branch 1 of the Dane County circuit court, which has a docket of primarily criminal cases. The election is on April 3, 2018.
