The Department of Justice says it isn’t going to request a delay for the guv to call special elections in the 1st SD and 42nd AD.

The DOJ earlier today indicated it was looking at filing a direct appeal to the Supreme Court to postpone calling the elections. But a letter to the court’s clerk tonight shows Gov. Scott Walker has decided not to file an emergency petition to bypass the Court of Appeals.

Tonight’s letter follows a decision by the 2nd District Court of Appeals earlier today denying a request from Walker to delay his special elections call, which follows a similar denial from a Dane County judge Tuesday.
