APPLETON, Wis. (May 2, 2018) – The Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce has opened the application process for its long-standing Leadership Fox Cities program. The community-immersion program allows participants to grow as leaders and get further engaged in the community. Since 1991, the program’s mission is designed to teach participants to be imaginative and informed leaders in the community, while preparing them for leadership roles in the Fox Cities.

Each year, the program welcomes approximately 40 committed participants who gather monthly, from September through May, to learn about the Fox Cities accolades and challenges in the region.

Each monthly session focuses on a specific community segment, from human services to arts to government, participants are immersed in a full-day traveling class which includes guest speakers, hands-on experiences, tours and relationship-building. The goal of each day is to challenge thinking and inspire participants to get involved in the community.

Participants are also placed into small groups and are tasked with identifying an issue or program that needs attention in the community. These groups plan and execute sustainable community projects throughout the course of the program. These projects were designed to raise awareness of an issue, improve team skills and effect change in the Fox Cities. Projects are presented during the year-end commencement in May.

“Leadership Fox Cities is a great opportunity for our rising stars in the community to get a well-rounded introduction to the inner workings of the Fox Cities. Each session is packed with information about what makes the Fox Cities work, including government, economic development, education, social services and dozens of other topics,” shared Fox Cities Chamber President/CEO Bob Mundt. “Tangible projects initiated by subgroups are a great takeaway from the program that benefit the entire community.”

Applications for the 2018-2019 program are now being accepted until June 22, 2018. To obtain an application, visit www.foxcitieschamber.com.
