MILWAUKEE – Governor Scott Walker today participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for Klement’s Sausage Company who is expanding their flagship facility in Milwaukee as a result of increased demand. The company will invest at least $7.5 million into the expansion.“Wisconsin is a top ten state for manufacturing jobs since we took office, and it’s because great, long-time Wisconsin employers like Klement’s are committed to growing here in our state,” Governor Walker said. “This expansion is outstanding news, and we look forward to Klement’s continued investment in Wisconsin.”
Klement’s has called Milwaukee home since its founding in 1956. The facility employs more than 350 people. “We are proud to be Milwaukee’s Hometown Sausage,” Klement’s CEO Tom Danneker said. “Over the past year we’ve greatly enhanced our relationship with the community through partnerships with the Milwaukee Bucks, Summerfest, the Wisconsin State Fair and the Milwaukee County Parks. The response from the community has been overwhelming. Our customers gave us the confidence and ability to move forward with this expansion today. We look forward to meeting the growing demand for our handcrafted Klement’s sausage for years to come.” The company’s $7.5 million investment will be used to reconstruct 50,000 square feet of Klement’s facility and add 5,000 square feet. Miron Construction of Neenah is the contractor for the project which is expected to be complete in Summer 2019. Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation and Milwaukee 7 are providing funding for new equipment purchases. |
