Gov. Walker: Announces $3.6 million in Fast Forward Dual Enrollment grants to help more than 1,000 teachers, 209 school districts

WAUSAU – Governor Scott Walker today announced $3.6 million in Dual Enrollment Fast Forward grants will be awarded to 14 technical schools to help students across the state at 209 school districts. The Governor made the announcement at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau.

“We are providing Wisconsin students with a leg up by providing access to post-secondary education before they graduate from high school,” said Governor Walker. “Through $3.6 million in Fast Forward Dual Enrollment Grants, more than 1,000 teachers, who serve students in 209 school districts, will receive credentials to teach their high school students technical college courses. This will help Wisconsin students better prepare themselves for a future in high demand fields, and it will save their family valuable tuition dollars.”

Fast Forward Dual Enrollment Grants are provided by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD). The grants will allow high school teachers to gain the same level of certification in their relevant subject area as instructors at their local technical college.  This will allow those teachers to provide high school students the opportunity to dual enroll in college programs while still in high school without paying tuition prices.
