MADISON – Governor Scott Walker today announced an additional $25 million in savings through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) that will move up 12 highway projects because of improved fiscal management.
“We are finding critical savings that are helping improve Wisconsin’s infrastructure,” said Governor Scott Walker. “The Wisconsin Department of Transportation through improved fiscal management has $25 million in additional savings to advance twelve highway improvement projects into fiscal year 2018 which will address pavement, bridge and safety needs for projects located throughout the state.” By taking advantage of the savings and improving more roadways and bridges now, WisDOT can more cost effectively preserve transportation assets and better maintain the state’s infrastructure. Savings on and improved management of highway projects allows WisDOT the ability to increase investment on our roads. Using these savings now, means WisDOT will accomplish more road work in the current fiscal year. Improving more roadways now and taking advantage of these savings will help preserve our roadways and bridges.
