MADISON – Communications Test Design, Inc. (CTDI), a global engineering and logistics company in the communications industry, has opened a new facility in Kenosha County – a project expected to create 150 jobs over the next the three years.
“We are excited about CTDI’s decision to invest in our talented workforce by expanding right here in Wisconsin,” said Governor Scott Walker. “CTDI looked at potential sites in other states, but opted to establish operations in Pleasant Prairie because of the great location, our dedicated workforce and the state’s pro-business climate.”
“The location in Pleasant Prairie, strategically situated near Interstate 94 between Milwaukee and Chicago, will enhance CTDI’s ability to provide superior customer satisfaction and timely service to our growing customer needs in the region,” said Jim Reid, CTDI’s Director of Real Estate & Transportation. “This business location will also complement the strong corporate brand we have developed with our high-quality, global customer base. We are confident we can augment our employee population with the talented pool of employees in southeastern Wisconsin.”
The 160,000-square-foot facility at 8810 88th Ave. will be used for pallet rack storage as well as for receiving, production, testing, repair and shipping services, as well as office and support zones. The site will support customers and installation teams in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is supporting the project by authorizing up to $600,000 in state income tax credits over the next three years. The actual amount of tax credits CTDI will receive is contingent upon the number of jobs created and the amount of capital investment during that period.
Founded in 1975, CTDI is a privately-held corporation that offers a suite of services to customers in the communications industry, including major telecom carriers, OEMs and cable television providers. CTDI refurbishes, repairs and tests a wide range of electrical and telecommunications equipment, including modems, routers, smart phones, tablets, laptops and network equipment. The company is based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and employs 14,500 people in 96 facilities worldwide.
CTDI is receiving a warm welcome from local and regional officials.

In addition to the 150 jobs expected to be created by CTDI, an economic modeling study estimates the project could indirectly generate 67 additional jobs in the region. Those 217 new jobs are expected to generate over $1.9 million in state income tax revenue over a five-year period.
