Celebrates more than half a million families already submitting their claims

MADISON – Governor Scott Walker today announced that more than half a million families have already claimed their $100 Per-Child Tax Rebate. The deadline for all other families to apply is 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018.

“It’s great to see more than half a million families have claimed their $100 Child Tax Rebate,” said Governor Walker. “This $100 can make a big difference as kids go back to school next fall. Do not miss your chance to claim your rebate, visit childtaxrebate.wi.gov to apply. I hope all eligible families apply for this rebate before the deadline.”

Anyone who is a resident of the State of Wisconsin is eligible to receive $100 for every dependent child living at home under the age of 18 as of December 31, 2017. Those who claim the rebate will receive the money before school starts this fall and have the option to receive it through a check in the mail or direct deposit.

There will also be a Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday from August 1 – 5, 2018. This means the state sales tax will not be charged for those days on school supplies where each item is $75 or less, clothing where each item is $75 or less, computers where each item is $750 or less, and computer supplies where each item is $250 or less.

Both the $100 Child Sales Tax Rebate and the August Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday are a result of additional surplus dollars. This tax rebate is in addition to more than $8 billion in overall tax relief since Governor Walker took office.
