MADISON – FoodShare Employee and Training (FSET) works to help people remove the barriers preventing them from securing sound employment for the long-term, through a customized plan. FSET helps people move from government dependence to true independence found through work. Tom Pytel, Stevens Point, recently landed what he calls his dream job, working in facilities management for Medxcel, at Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital.

“The big thing is, I’m working. And I love working!” Pytel said. “That program (FSET) did work for me. It gave me a future.”
“Our investment in the FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET) program is an investment in our people, so that everyone who wants a good job, can get a good job, regardless of challenges in their present or their past,” said Governor Scott Walker.
In April, Governor Walker signed the Wisconsin Works for Everyone welfare reform package to help more people move from government dependence to true independence. This legislation includes an expansion of FSET opportunities for more parents of school-aged children, allows for changes to required number of hours under the FSET program, and limits assets for government assistance eligibility. More than 27,000 people have gained employment through FSET.
