NEENAH — Governor Scott Walker joined federal, state and local officials from Winnebago, Calumet and Outagamie counties in commemorating the completion of the I-41/US 10/WIS 441 system interchange scheduled to open the week of July 16.
“This is outstanding news for the Fox Cities and the entire Northeast Region,” said Governor Walker. “We’re making big investments in our state’s infrastructure, and the completion of this important project is a great example. Throughout the interchange reconstruction, the region has experienced a jump in economic development and construction continues to create opportunities for new and existing businesses all along the project corridor.”
Last year, Governor Walker announced the entire WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project will be completed a year early from 2020 to 2019 as a result of cost savings and combining projects into a larger package yielding more competitive bids and efficiencies. This saved taxpayer dollars and it minimizes traffic impacts for travelers, residents, and businesses.
“We are grateful for the impressive community collaboration that contributed to the success of this important project,” WisDOT Secretary Dave Ross said. “By working closely with local community leaders, we’ve been able to construct an interchange that meets the transportation needs of state traffic and one that will help fuel economic development opportunities for this region.”
The system interchange, which is part of the WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project, includes the completion of constructing a second parallel bridge over Little Lake Butte des Morts, reconditioning of the Roland Kampo Bridge, and reconstructing the I-41/US 10/WS 441 interchange to provide free flow movements in all directions.
The WIS 441 Tri-County Project represents an estimated $400 million investment in Wisconsin’s northeast transportation system. The improvements include the reconstruction of approximately 6 miles of US 10/WIS 441. It expands the highway to six lanes between Cold Spring Road (near County CB) and Oneida Street (US 10) in Winnebago, Outagamie and Calumet counties.
