GREEN BAY– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement after attending Green Bay Packaging’s groundbreaking at the site of their planned $500 million facility in Northeast Wisconsin:

“Today was a great day for Northeast Wisconsin. With the groundbreaking for Green Bay Packaging’s new facility this morning, the largest economic development project in Brown County history reached a major milestone. Whether it’s the approximately 1.5 million man-hours and 1,000 construction workers that will work on this project or the 600 jobs that will be retained and up to 200 jobs that can be created, this project will help our region continue to grow and transform.

“During the event, we heard from company leaders about their commitment to sustainability in the facility’s design and construction, including increased energy efficiency, reduced air emissions, and an elimination of wastewater discharges into the Fox River. Green Bay Packaging’s commitment to improving local air and water quality are proof that the company is not just investing in a new facility, but they’re investing in our community.”
