HealthWatch Conference Spotlights Legislators, Candidates for Governor

Madison, WI- Wednesday, March 7 the 11th Annual HealthWatch Wisconsin Conference titled, “The Healthcare Coverage Quest: The Road to Reimbursements” will convene in Madison. This is the 11th year gathering advocates, health care providers, and health policy experts from across Wisconsin to discuss access to health care coverage and services in Wisconsin, especially for low-income, underserved consumers.

The HealthWatch Wisconsin Conference kicks off March 7 at 1pm at the Madison Masonic Center (301 Wisconsin Ave., Madison). The first day will focus on connecting Wisconsin children to health coverage. Experts will review the eligibility and enrollment basics of programs like BadgerCare Plus, and then work through real-life examples in interactive sessions. Next, “The Age of Artful Advocacy,” will present a powerful, inspiring health care or coverage story.

Back by popular demand, day 2 of the conference on March 8 kicks off with a panel of invited Legislators from across Wisconsin to share their interest, passion, or concern about health issues or pending legislation. Confirmed Legislators include: Sen. LaTonya Johnson, Rep. Melissa Sargent, Rep. Beth Meyers, Rep. Jimmy Anderson, Rep. Katrina Shankland, and Rep. Chris Taylor along with other invited legislative member guests.

A slate of Democratic Candidates for Governor will also discuss current and emerging health care and coverage issues in Wisconsin. The day continues with inspiring sessions on innovation; the Birth Tax, a challenging birth cost recovery policy; health equity; and health policy. The afternoon includes workshop sessions on topics like private health insurance, coverage for immigrant populations, patient rights and responsibilities when discharging to long term care, care and coverage coordination for children with special health care needs, Medicaid and jail health issues for incarcerated individuals, behavioral health coverage issues, and much more!
