PEWAUKEE — Saying “the fight is not over,” Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch said the Walker campaign is “preparing for the likelihood of a recount.”

She spoke as Milwaukee County officials announced a final tally of absentee ballots that swung heavily in Dem Tony Evers’ favor.

With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Evers was at just more than 1.3 million votes, an edge of about 31,000 votes, according to unofficial returns.

“We need to prepare ourselves this morning for a long and drawn out recount that the other side will surely seek,” Kleefisch said.

Kleefisch also thanked supporters, and asked them to donate or volunteer to help with the recount efforts.
