Janesville – Retired State Senator Tim Cullen (D-Janesville) announces his endorsement of Commander Troy Knudson for the upcoming August 14th primary and in the November 6th general election for Rock County Sheriff.  Previously, Cullen represented the 15th District from 1975-1987 and later from 2011-2015.  He also served as the Senate Majority Leader in 1981, 1983, and 1985.  Commander Knudson is the highest-ranking candidate seeking to replace retiring Sheriff Bob Spoden in the upcoming race.  Commander Knudson has led both the Law Enforcement Services Division and the Correctional Services Division, giving him experience in nearly every aspect of the Sheriff’s Office.

“I believe Troy Knudson will be an excellent Sheriff of Rock County.  He has all of the experience to do the job.  He also has the human qualities to serve every citizen of Rock County with equal respect,” Cullen said.  “Commander Knudson has a passion for serving the community and has a history of making positive changes within the agency that have ensured accountability and professionalism in a fiscally conservative manner.  He also seems to understand the importance of addressing underlying issues to reduce crime and make Rock County a better place to live.”

“I am thrilled to receive the endorsement of Senator Cullen, who is such an experienced and knowledgeable leader in our community,” Knudson said. “As a Sheriff, one must have trusted advisors who can assist you as you navigate some of the serious issues that Rock County will face in the next four years.  To be able to count Senator Cullen as such a resource is a real honor and privilege!”
