GRAFTON, Wis. – On Monday night Change Research released the first public polling for the race for the 6th Congressional District seat in Wisconsin. The poll has Democratic challenger Dan Kohl neck and neck with Republican incumbent Representative Glenn Grothman. Kohl received 48 percent of the vote and Grothman received 50 percent.

“This poll reflects what we have been seeing and hearing across the district: Wisconsinites are fired up to elect a new representative who will look out for them, not corporate donors and special interests,” said Kohl campaign spokesperson Micki Duncan. “Dan is focused on the issues people here in the 6th District care about, like making sure everyone can get quality, affordable health care and fighting for protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Congressman Grothman, on the other hand, has voted to take health coverage away from more than 400,000 Wisconsinites, gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and allow insurance companies to raise premiums for older Americans.”

The poll shows a 15-point swing toward the Democratic candidate since President Donald Trump won the district by 17 points in 2016. It was conducted as part of a group of 12 polls in competitive Congressional races throughout the country that President Trump won by between 8 and 27 points in 2016. The polls showed a range of Democratic gain from 26 points (IA-04) to -3 points (CO-03).
