Wonewoc, WI – Farming is an important profession and way of life in Central and Western Wisconsin, and Volunteers for Agriculture (VFA) – the political arm of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation – has endorsed Wonewoc farmer Tony Kurtz in the race for the 50th Assembly District.

“As a farmer himself, Tony Kurtz understands the incredible challenges the agricultural community is facing,” WFBF’s Senior Director of Governmental Relations Rob Richard said. “Madison is in dire need of people like Tony who will bring an agricultural perspective to a legislative body that continues to be generations removed from the farm.”

Richard added, “Tony served more than 20 years as a helicopter pilot and crash scene investigator in the U.S. Army. Our local farmer committee that interviewed Tony appreciated his devotion to helping retiring veterans pursue careers in agriculture.”

Kurtz, who grows organic corn and soybeans, was grateful to have the support of his fellow farmers.

“Farming is a passion of mine – it’s a big part of what drew me to Western Wisconsin when I retired from the Army,” said Kurtz. “I’m running to ensure that rural areas have a strong in Madison, and I’m proud to have earned the support of VFA.”
