MILWAUKEE – Today, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced his endorsement of Earnell Lucas, candidate for Milwaukee County Sheriff.

“Earnell Lucas was born in Milwaukee, raised his family in Milwaukee, and served the people of Milwaukee for 25 years within the Milwaukee Police Department,” said Barrett. “His life experience in developing and improving relationships between law enforcement and the community has provided the framework of what it takes to be an outstanding sheriff.”

“I am honored by Mayor Barrett’s endorsement,” said Lucas. “As a state legislator and congressman, and now as the Mayor of Milwaukee, he has worked to advance progressive leadership in our community. I look forward to working with Mayor Barrett and all City of Milwaukee leaders to restore collaboration and communication between the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement.”

Earnell Lucas was born and raised in Milwaukee. He is a graduate of Rufus King High School and Marquette University and is a 25-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department, retiring at the rank of captain. He enjoys a successful career with Major League Baseball, where he has served in many capacities, including Head of Security. Earnell lives in Milwaukee with his wife, Linda, and attends St. Matthew CME Church.
