Milwaukee Alderman Rainey: Wants St. Joseph hospital to discuss plans firsthand to public

As Ascension Wisconsin has announced it will no longer provide surgical and other services at St. Joseph hospital, my office is both aware and deeply concerned with this development. I have heard from residents and community leaders who are equally concerned about a reduction of health services at this facility. My office has been in communication with Ascension and believes their staff should speak directly to the community about its future outlook. Likewise, community members should be given an opportunity to express themselves on this very concerning issue. My office will be facilitating a Town Hall Meeting to speak to the concerns of all. This meeting will allow us to have full transparency, acting not as a gatekeeper but rather a conduit between the community and the health care provider. Details of a potential meeting will be forthcoming.
