MADISON – Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mahlon Mitchell accepted the endorsement of the United Steelworkers, District 2. The United Steelworkers are North America’s largest industrial union and a powerful voice for working families in Wisconsin.

“It is clear that you are the candidate that is willing to stand up and fight for us,” said District Director Michael Bolton. “We appreciate your support on the issues that mean the most to us – expanding and improving our economy, creating opportunities to put people to work in family sustaining jobs, and supporting the right for workers to bargain collectively for the pay and benefits they deserve. We must work together to rebuild the middle class and make Wisconsin’s economy strong again.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the United Steelworkers and the thousands of hardworking Wisconsinites they represent,” said Mitchell. “The labor movement built the strongest middle class in the world – we can and will rebuild that power beginning here in Wisconsin with me as governor. A Mitchell Administration will reshape the national profile of unions, stop the attacks on our working families and build an economy that works for all Wisconsinites.”

The United Steelworkers join Mitchell’s growing list of endorsements that includes, U.S. Representative Gwen Moore, Wisconsin AFL-CIO, AFSCME Wisconsin, The International Association of Fire Fighters, Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, Service Employees International Union Wisconsin Council, United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1473, Wisconsin State Council of Machinists, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 420, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 998, Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney, and received the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction.
