Incumbent Wisconsin Senator Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Sen. Tammy Baldwin in her campaign for re-election to represent Wisconsin in the Senate.

“Senator Baldwin is a champion for Wisconsin women and families, and we are proud to endorse her re-election,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Wisconsin women and families deserve leadership from someone who will never back down against out-of-touch politicians and their constant attacks on our basic reproductive freedom.”

“Women should be able to make personal health care decisions in consultation with their doctors and families, without Washington politicians getting in the way,” said Baldwin. “I’ve spent my life working to expand high-quality, affordable health care coverage for every Wisconsinite, and I’m proud to continue standing with NARAL to defend a woman’s right to make her own health care choices.”

Tammy believes that every woman deserves the freedom to make her own, personal decisions about her health care, her family, and her body. And she knows that choice isn’t just about vital health care options and women’s health care rights, because having control over the decision of when to have children, and how many to have, greatly affects women’s economic prosperity. When women do better, our economy does better as a whole. That’s why Tammy is committed to fighting against dangerous efforts to roll back progress, like weakening ACA rules requiring employer-provided health plans to cover birth control. She also introduced the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would protect a woman’s right to safe and legal abortion by ending laws intended to restrict reproductive health services for women.

NARAL’s political program for the 2018 general election is the organization’s largest ever midterm political program to advance candidates fighting for “our values, our future, our vote.” NARAL is investing in diverse candidates up and down the ballot in 19 states, mobilizing members and voters through mail, phones, digital ads, door to door canvassing, TV ads, and rallies that hold anti-choice candidates accountable and lift up pro-choice champions.
