New CFG ad hits Vukmir as ‘no conservative’

CFG Action Wisconsin, an arm of the national Club for Growth, started a new TV ad today that declares GOP U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir is “no conservative.”

A Club for Growth spokesman said the ad is part of the group’s previous $2.4 million buy and will run in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Wausau and La Crosse.

The narrator in the spot opens it saying Vukmir, a state senator, claims to be a conservative, “but that’s not how the pieces fit.”

The narrator goes on to say Vukmir bragged about turning down pay hikes, but “quietly pocketed a pair of pay raises”; voted “to expand the power of government to take private property and give it to developers” and “even supports hiding the names of politicians hit with sexual harassment claims.”

As the ad progresses, the pieces of a puzzle are assembled on the screen until it shows a picture of Vukmir and the narrator proclaims, “Leah Vukmir, she’s no conservative.”

CFG Action Wisconsin previously ran a spot hitting Vukmir as “just a typical politician.” The Club for Growth has endorsed her GOP rival Kevin Nicholson.
