New Walker TV ad says Evers wants special treatment for ‘illegals’

Gov. Scott Walker’s latest TV ad charges Dem rival Tony Evers wants to provide “special treatment for illegals.”

Walker’s campaign said the ad, the 31st of his re-election bid, will run on TV and online platforms.

The spot uses clips of Evers’ comments from Friday’s debate in which he expressed support for allowing those who were brought illegally to the U.S. as children to pay in-state tuition at University of Wisconsin schools. Those in the program, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, after often called “Dreamers.” Evers also backed driver permits for those who are living in the country illegally, but working in Wisconsin.

The narrator opens the ad, “We know Tony Evers wants to raise property and income taxes, but did you know he wants to give in-state tuition to illegal aliens?”

The ad then shows a clip from Friday’s debate with Evers saying, “I would propose or support legislation that allowed DACA students to be part of, to have in-state tuition.”

The narrator adds, “And drivers’ licenses too?”

The spot shows shows another clip of Evers from Friday saying, “Do I think that we should have permits, driver permits for undocumented folks that are working in the state of Wisconsin? The answer is yes.”

The narrator closes the spot, “Tony Evers: Special treatment for illegals, higher taxes for you.”
