In response to the extremist Republican demands for increased border wall funding and failure to offer a path forward for Dreamers in the omnibus bill, NextGen America President Tom Steyer released the following statement:
“Republicans in Congress made their priorities very clear today. By demanding funds for a wasteful and destructive border wall and refusing to protect Dreamers, Republicans have made it known that the American future they envision has no room for immigrants, their families, or people of color. If we want to build a just nation, we must make immigration a critical issue this November, demand protections for Dreamers and their families, and vote out Republicans intent on prolonging a history of racism and xenophobia that has threatened immigrant communities in this country for far too long.”
