Today, Governor Scott Walker’s campaign released an ad using racist language to malign immigrant communities by claiming that Tony Evers wants to give “special treatment for illegals”. In response to this example of dog-whistle racism, NextGen Wisconsin Youth Organizing Director George Olufosoye released the following statement:
“Scott Walker has slashed funding for our schools and denied $1.1 billion in funds that could have provided affordable health care to hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites. Now, he is hoping that he can distract us from his abject failure as Governor by attacking and stigmatizing immigrant communities. Young voters see past Walker’s politics of fear and scapegoating, and we will turnout to vote for Tony Evers on November 6 because we want a Governor who will stand up and protect everyone in our state.”
