Power to the Polls Event Will Empower Women of Color to Organize their Communities Ahead of Midterm Elections

MilwaukeeWI — On SaturdayJuly 28, NextGen Wisconsin and the Women’s March will host a dialogue centered on uplifting the voices of Black women in politics. By holding this event aimed at creating an agenda for Black women, organizers hope to engage communities of color in a way that empowers, not tokenizes, their votes in the upcoming midterm election. This event is part of the Women’s March Power to the Polls stop in Milwaukee that will include a rally, performances, canvassing, phone banking, and workshops on organizing — and NextGen Wisconsin organizers will be on hand to pledge young Wisconsinites to vote in November.

With an initial investment of $2.5 million, NextGen Wisconsin is working to register, engage, and organize young voters across the state to defeat Scott Walker, defend Tammy Baldwin’s seat, and flip the First Congressional District. With 31 staff and fellows already on the ground, NextGen has already pledged over 10,000 Wisconsinites to vote in the upcoming elections.
