MADISON, Wis. — Brad Schimel today announced his 2018 election bid for Attorney General. The following are the statements of One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross:

“Brad Schimel has failed to protect and serve the people of Wisconsin time and again with both his actions and his inaction.

“Schimel has spent more than $80,000 on promotional swag, including using thousands of dollars for a grant to fight internet predators that prey on children to buy candy.

“Schimel created a taxpayer funded unit of lawyers whose sole purpose is to file politically motivated lawsuits to advance a partisan Republican agenda and boost his campaign fundraising.

“Schimel has refused to join with attorneys general across the nation to take action to protect student loan borrowers and crack down on predatory for-profit outfits like Trump University.

“Schimel allowed a backlog of untested rape kits to grow, letting offenders roam free while the evidence to convict them sat on a shelves gathering dust.

“With a record like his, it’s no wonder Brad Schimel has used his office to so doggedly defend Republican passed laws on voting that a federal judge found unfairly targeted people of color and Democrats to keep them from voting.”
