Vos Should Choose Another Road, Drop Divisive Attacks on Will of Wisconsin Voters
MADISON, Wis. — State Representative Robin Vos was selected leader of the Assembly Republican caucus by his colleagues today. Despite Vos and his fellow Republicans garnering only 45 percent of the votes cast in State Assembly races while Democrats swept every statewide office on the ballot, Republicans will return as the Assembly majority for the 2019-20 legislative session.
Despite the lack of any electoral mandate, Vos has indicated he intends to convene a lame duck session of the legislature to try to pass controversial, divisive measures intended to impede Governor-elect Tony Evers.
The following are the statements of One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross:
“Rep. Vos was selected by his colleagues to lead a caucus that garnered only 45 percent of the votes cast in Assembly races statewide.
“He was not elected Governor. He does not have a mandate from the people of Wisconsin for his brand of extreme partisanship. Yet he insists on doubling down on his divide and conquer approach.
“Rep. Vos should choose another road for himself and his caucus and drop his divisive agenda immediately. Just last week the voters of Wisconsin elected Tony Evers and Democrats to every statewide office on the ballot and Rep. Vos should respect their decision.”
