MADISON – Statement from Nicole Safar, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin:

“With his nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, President Donald Trump has put a woman’s ability to make her own health care decisions on the line. The president has promised to only nominate Justices who will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that prohibited states from outlawing abortion. If that happens, abortion will immediately become a crime in Wisconsin.

“The next Supreme Court Justice will determine the course of our history, and the course of countless women’s lives. Any nominee who does not believe that a woman should be able to make her own health care decisions disagrees with the vast majority of people in this country and is not qualified to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court.

“We urge the Senate to take their confirmation duties seriously. You’ll be hearing from us.”
