MADISON, Wis. – Time is running out for Wisconsin residents to register for federal disaster assistance, if they had property damage caused by the flooding and storms the state experienced in August and September of this year. If you sustained flood or storm damage, and live in one of the nine federally declared counties, you have until Dec. 17, 2018 to apply for assistance.
The counties approved for individual assistance include Crawford, Dane, Juneau, La Crosse, Marquette, Monroe, Richland, Sauk and Vernon Counties. Renters, homeowners and businesses in those counties who were affected by storms and flooding from Aug. 17 through Sept. 14, 2018 are eligible to apply.
Residents in the affected counties can register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) by calling 1-800-621-3362 or going online to DisasterAssistance.gov. If you registered with any other agency during the flooding – such as a local emergency management office or volunteer group – you must still register with FEMA to apply for aid. If you are unsure about your eligibility for assistance, call 1-800-621-3362 and a FEMA representative can assist you.
Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) remain open in several locations around the state to help those impacted by flooding and storms apply for assistance, understand FEMA disaster programs or learn about other federal and state assistance that may be available. You can visit any of the following DRC locations to receive information:
