Madison Representative Scott Allen (R-Waukesha) today was appointed chairman of the new Assembly Committee on Community Development for the upcoming legislative term beginning January 7, 2019.

“The speaker has recognized the importance of adapting to change in our communities, and I’m thrilled that he has asked me to lead in this area,” said Rep. Allen. “I look forward to bringing fresh ideas to the table for community development for the cities, towns and villages around the state.”

The Committee on Community Development will use an interdisciplinary approach to build stronger and more resilient communities throughout the state. Under the guidance of Rep. Allen the committee will explore ways the state can help communities sustain long term economic growth and help Wisconsin attract the talented workforce of tomorrow.

“Communities grow and change over time, and sometimes rather quickly. We need to be cognizant of the needs that arise when changes in our communities occur,” said Rep. Allen.

Rep. Allen has worked for twenty-five years in the housing and real estate industry. He served four years on the Waukesha County Community Development Block Grant board. Most recently, Rep. Allen has served on the board for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority. Community development is more than just an interest for Rep. Allen, it is a passion.
