Rep. Brooks: Support funding for additional Assistant District Attorneys

Rep. Ed Brooks

Madison, WI – Rep. Ed Brooks (R-Reedsburg), along with colleagues in the Wisconsin State Assembly, is supportive of an amendment to Senate Bill 54 which would provide additional funding to support Assistant District Attorneys for various counties throughout the state. Under the amendment, Monroe County is eligible to receive funding for two fulltime positions. The funding for these positions will come from the General Purpose Revenue fund (GPR). There positions went specifically to counties where the District Attorneys had requested the positions and were below 79% of their staffing according to the most recent Legislative Audit Bureau workload analysis study from 2014. The Assistant District Attorneys provided for under this provision will begin on July 1, 2019.

“Under staffing has been a problem for a number of years and I’m glad we are finally able to address some of that for Monroe County specifically,” said Rep. Brooks.
