The Wisconsin Game Preserve names Rep. Edming Outstanding Legislator of the Year

MADISON – The Wisconsin Game Preserve Association (WGPA) has named Representative James Edming (R-Glen Flora) as their 2018 Outstanding Legislator of the Year for his work on the Natural Resources Committee, particularly for authoring Act 169 which reforms Wisconsin laws regarding the height of pole traps which are used by game farms to protect their birds from predators.  The award was presented by WGPA President Tim Zindl and Natural Resource Committee Chairman, Rep. Joel Kleefisch (R-Oconomowoc) at the association’s annual meeting on Sunday in Johnson Creek.

“Our Association is pleased to present this ‘Legislator of the Year’ to Rep. Edming, in great appreciation of your understanding and support for the Wisconsin Pheasant Industry, its deep roots in Agriculture and its interwoven history with our Wisconsin sporting heritage,” said WGPA President Tim Zindl.

The idea that eventually became Act 169 started with a conversation Rep. Edming had with the owners of Krug’s Northwoods Game Birds in Taylor County about existing law and how it was impacting their business.

“It is such an honor to be presented with this award,” said Rep. Edming. “I am even more proud that the legislation that I authored to earn this honor addressed a need for folks in the 87th Assembly District.”
