APPLETON, WI. – Today, Rep. Mike Gallagher announced a Department of Transportation (DOT) grant of $10,452,500 to Appleton International Airport for the construction of an Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Training Facility. Rep. Gallagher was instrumental in directing DOT to address the lack of training facilities in Northeast Wisconsin and to award grant funding. Click here for Rep. I’m proud to go to bat for our local airports through my work on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and I will continue pushing for policies that encourage growth for the region.”

This funding will be instrumental in creating a state-of-the-art training center for airport firefighters to complete their FAA-required training. Our strong partnership with Fox Valley Technical College enables Appleton International Airport to build this facility at a fraction of the cost and make training services more accessible to airport first responders. This investment will close the existing training services gap and bring airport first responders across the region to Wisconsin.”

He serves on three of its subcommittees: Highways and Transit; Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials; and Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management.
