Wisconsin Public Health Association is the largest association for public health professionals in Wisconsin

MADISON – Assembly Democratic Leader Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) was named Legislator of the Year by the Wisconsin Public Health Association for his work in promoting public health in the 2017-18 legislative biennium. Representative Hintz released the following statement on receiving this award:

“Through the tireless efforts of WPHA and public health professionals, Wisconsin has long been a leader in the arena of public health. However, our work is far from complete. When I met with the Winnebago County Public Health Department and learned of the drastic increase of communicable disease in our state, I drafted legislation that was incorporated into the state budget to increase funding for county public health departments. Providing this support has allowed for improved education, prevention methods, and treatment for the people of Wisconsin.

“I am honored to work alongside WPHA in striving to eliminate health disparities and achieve health equity across our state. I will continue to build on the shared belief that an investment in public health is an investment in the people of Wisconsin.”
