Transformative interstate project from Appleton to De Pere would improve safety, regional economy

DE PERE – State Rep. André Jacque (R- De Pere) thanked Gov. Scott Walker for his request earlier today asking the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to evaluate expanding the Interstate 41 corridor in the Fox Valley between De Pere and Appleton.  Much of the potential project area is located within the 2nd Assembly District. DOT statistics show that I-41 has substantially higher crash rates across that segment than the state average for similar roadways.  Rep. Jacque has been a long-time proponent of expanding the stretch of highway to six lanes, and offered the following statement:

“I appreciate the Governor’s efforts to fast-track this process. Projects like this one, and building the southern bridge in De Pere, are a great investment for area residents and businesses. I look forward to working with the Governor and my colleagues in the legislature during the next budget process to further ensure these infrastructure upgrades happen in the interests of public safety on our roadways and economic prosperity for Northeast Wisconsin.”
