Madison—Representative Terry Katsma (R–Oostburg) has been appointed by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R–Rochester) to serve as a member of the Joint Committee on Finance during the 2019-20 legislative session.

“It is my great privilege to be asked to serve the people of Wisconsin as a member of the Joint Finance Committee,” said Rep. Katsma.  “I sincerely thank Speaker Vos for entrusting me with this responsibility.

“Thanks are due also to Governor Scott Walker, whose eight years of principled leadership put our state on the right track.  Our workers have now experienced nine consecutive months of record-low unemployment; our public schools have just received the largest real-dollar funding increase in history; we have saved taxpayers $8 billion (and counting) and have completely eliminated the state government portion of property taxes; and, even so, Wisconsin will enter 2019 with a budget surplus.  I believe in Wisconsin; I believe in the reforms that have led her recovery; and I am eager to keep building upon these successes in the upcoming legislative session.”

Rep. Katsma was first elected to the State Assembly in 2014.  He has most recently served as chairman of the Assembly Committee on Financial Institutions; as vice-chairman of the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means; and as a member of the State Building Commission.  His private-sector experience prior to public service includes more than 30 years in senior positions in the banking industry.
