FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 29, 2018

CONTACT STATE REPRESENTATIVE JOHN MACCO (608) 266-0485

Madison…State Representative John Macco (R-Ledgeview) would like to congratulate the members of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, of which he serves as the chairman, who will be taking on expanded roles in the upcoming 104th Wisconsin Legislature.

Yesterday, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) appointed Ways and Means Committee Vice Chairman Terry Katsma (R-Oostburg) and Excise Taxes and Fees Subcommittee Chairman Shannon Zimmerman (R-River Falls) to serve on the Joint Finance Committee. This committee crafts the biennial budget for state government. Committee members Kathy Bernier (R-Lake Hallie) and André Jacque (R-De Pere) were elected to the State Senate earlier this month.

“I am proud of the work that the Ways and Means Committee accomplished during the last two year session – from conforming state tax laws to the recent changes to federal tax laws, to approving the City of Cable’s new tax incremental financing (TIF) plan, to creating a sales tax holiday before the 2018-2019 school year began. The Ways and Means Committee was the fourth busiest standing committee in the Assembly – processing 71 pieces of legislation over the last two year session.

As we prepare to begin the 104th legislative session, I look forward to working with my colleagues in their new roles to continue to ensure that Wisconsin is a great place to raise a family and for businesses to create jobs. Keeping Wisconsin’s economy on a positive trajectory is of utmost importance to me,” said Rep. Macco.
