Madison…Today, Governor Walker signed into law Assembly Bill 819 Partners with Business. Representative John Macco (R-Ledgeview) released the following statement:

“I am excited to see my Partners with Business bill signed into law.” said Rep. Macco. “This is a unique model which has the potential to increase the hiring of people with disabilities throughout Wisconsin. This model is not only fiscally responsible but it provides for better support for employees with developmental disabilities.”

The law was written in partnership with Representative John Macco, Senator Dan Feyen and with help from The Arc Wisconsin and Wisconsin BPDD. This bipartisan legislation passed both the Assembly and Senate unanimously.

“I am proud to have authored this common sense bill that will help both developmentally disabled workers and employers. Partners with business will help provide folks with developmental disabilities the dignity of self-reliance many of us take for granted.” Continued Rep. Macco, “I have been working on disability advocacy issues since I took office, our goal is to help folks with disabilities Work More, Earn More and Save More.”

“No other state is doing something like Partners with Business and we are guaranteeing success,” says The Arc Wisconsin Executive Director Lisa Pugh.
