MADISON – State Representative Lee Nerison, R-Westby, announced today that he is not running for re-election in 2018 and will be retiring from the legislature at the end of his term.

“I remember stopping by the State Capitol as a kid with my family on the way back from a Milwaukee Braves game. I keep the family picture we took that day in my Capitol office to remind me as a legislator of what a privilege it is to serve in the legislature. I never dreamed I would end up here, but it has been such an honor to work and serve with so many great people,” Nerison said.

Nerison has represented the 96th Assembly District, which includes Crawford, Vernon, and most of Monroe counties, since 2005. He has chaired the Assembly Agriculture Committee since 2011 and has been appointed by both Democrat and Republican governors to serve on the Mississippi River Parkway Commission since 2005. While serving in the legislature, he has received numerous awards related to conservation, agriculture, the dairy industry, and veterans’ issues.

Nerison and his family plan to remain involved in their community in the years to come, through their church and civic organizations and by spending time with their kids and grandkids.
