Join Me Tomorrow at the Vigil to Pray for Family Reunification

RACINE, WI – State Representative Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) issued the following statement in response to the continuing separation of immigrant families at the U.S.-Mexico border:

“Over the past few weeks, the American people have seen and heard heartwrenching stories of families torn apart at the border. We have seen photos of children ripped from their parents and kept in detention facilities, in cages and tent cities. While President Trump claims to have ended this policy, we know that there is no plan or timeline to reunify the families who have already been separated.

“President Trump was in our community this week, but he does not share our values. In Racine, we take care of each other and look out for each other.

“Together, we forced President Trump to back down from continuing his cruel and unconscionable family separation policy. We must continue to push for the reunification of separated families and for comprehensive, just immigration reform. We cannot sit idly by while injustice is done in our names.

“Tomorrow, I’m joining the Racine Interfaith Coalition in a Vigil to Pray for Family Reunification, and for the health and welfare of the thousands of children separated from their families as a result of this policy. Please join me in Monument Square at 6:00pm – I look forward to seeing you there.”
