Dodgeville – Wisconsin State Rep. Todd Novak announced his candidacy for re-election in the 51st Assembly District today.

“Serving the residents of the 51st Assembly District has been the most rewarding and fulfilling job I have ever held,” said Novak. “I have made it a priority of mine to legislate across the aisle and look out for the interests of those I represent, regardless of political affiliation.”

Born and raised in Cobb, Wisconsin, Rep. Novak currently resides in Dodgeville and maintains strong relationships with local governments, law enforcement agencies, and community business owners. This session, Rep. Novak authored twelve bills that successfully passed the State Assembly with bi-partisan support, many directly impacting the local communities Rep. Novak serves.

“Quality education continues to be a priority of mine, especially in rural parts of our state,” said Novak. “I was proud to support a record-setting investment in our schools that included increased sparsity aid payments to rural districts as well as additional resources for special education and mental health services. Student safety is critical for student success, which is why I authored a school safety package that provides a $100 million grant program for our schools that was signed into law. ”

Rep. Novak’s work in the legislature was highlighted by his appointment to the Speaker’s Task Force on Foster Care. This bi-partisan group of legislators toured the state listening to those involved in Wisconsin’s foster care system. Following these hearings, a package of bills was presented to the legislature including a bill authored by Rep. Novak granting a tuition waiver for foster youth attending a University of Wisconsin institution.

“I remain committed to the needs of our most vulnerable citizens,” said Novak. “This session, I authored legislation making health care more affordable for those purchasing insurance on the individual marketplace as well as additional resources for those living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I look forward to continuing to solve issues like these as your voice in Madison.”

The 51st Assembly District includes parts of Green, Lafayette, Iowa, Sauk, and Richland Counties.
