Madison–State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), released the following statement in regards to a WEDC Entrepreneurship Support Grant awarded to the Oconto County Economic Development Corporation:
“I am pleased to see that the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has awarded a grant to the Oconto County Economic Development Corporation. Only 11 Entrepreneurship Support Grants were awarded throughout the state, showcasing how strong the county has become in our economic development efforts. This major accomplishment would not have been possible without the passionate individuals advocating for our county, working towards attracting more talent and businesses to our great community.
“Supporting our rural communities to help cultivate economic development has been, and will continue to be a priority of mine. The Wisconsin Assembly GOP has been a leader on this issue, creating the ‘Rural Wisconsin Initiative’ which aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas in education, health care, technology, and the workforce. Grants like this one awards to Oconto County play a pivotal role in doing just that”.
The Economic Support Grants are aimed at supporting local and regional economic development efforts in the state of Wisconsin. The dollars are used to assist counties and local regional development groups to foster attractive environments for economic development in Wisconsin.
