Madison- Today, Governor Scott Walker signed Assembly Bill 381 into law, which will attach a $25 donation to the Law Enforcement Memorial Fund license plate, with proceeds being divided between the Wisconsin and National Law Enforcement Memorial Funds. All funds collected will stay in Wisconsin.

State Representative David Steffen (R-Howard) is the lead Assembly author of this legislation, which will directly assist Wisconsin families of law enforcement who have suffered the loss of a loved one in a line-of-duty death. The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial also works to maintain a state memorial located on the capitol square, which permanently honors Wisconsin’s fallen heroes. Rep. Steffen offered
the following statement regarding today’s signing of AB 381.

“I am incredibly pleased to see this bill signed into law, which will provide significant financial support to these very deserving organizations. The Law Enforcement Memorial Fund plays a critical role in helping the families of fallen officers following a line-of-duty death, and is committed to honoring the heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting our communities. Through this bill, the Law Enforcement Memorial License plate will now be able to assist these organizations with their very honorable mission,” said Rep. Steffen.
