Cornell School District Receives Grant Award

Madison – Today, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) awarded an additional $504,863 in fabrication laboratory (“Fab Lab”) grants to 22 school districts; including the Cornell School District. Following WEDC’s announcement, Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) issued the following statement:

“The importance of Fab Labs cannot be underestimated; especially for our rural schools. Parents of children in our area know firsthand the difficulties our students experience.

“Compared to when I was growing up, our children have the power to explore the entire world at their fingertips, and Fab Labs help bridge the divide for Wisconsin’s youth between what they need to know now, and what they need to know for the future. I look forward to seeing Cornell’s Fab Lab prosper in the months and years to come.”

WEDC’s Fab Lab Grant Program was first implemented in the 2015-17 state budget and to date has awarded grants to 43 school districts statewide. To learn more about the program, visit: https://wedc.org/programs-and-resources/fabrication-laboratories-grant/.
