Republicans reject Dem motion for more road funds to non-Foxconn communities

MADISON – Today, Republican members of the Joint Finance Committee rejected the efforts of Democratic members to allocate additional transportation monies to roads throughout the state, which are quickly deteriorating because of Republican neglect. Instead, once again, Republicans voted for an additional windfall for Foxconn, leaving Wisconsin communities in the dust. In response, Rep. Chris Taylor (D-Madison) issued the following statement:

“Today, Republicans continued to prioritize state road money for Foxconn instead of communities throughout our state. Republicans gave Foxconn a windfall of additional cash which Democrats instead wanted to allocate to road repairs in other parts of the state that have been seriously neglected under Republican leadership. Republican lawmakers and Governor Walker are already giving Foxconn billions of Wisconsinite dollars and millions more for transportation funding while roads throughout our state crumble. I guess Foxconn Avenue is more important than Wisconsin communities in desperate need for more road funding. When are my Republican colleagues going to prioritize the people of this state rather than Foxconn?”
