Rep. Chris Taylor, 608-266-5342
GOP ignores the cries of our youth for meaningful action
MADISON – Today, Assembly Republicans rejected common-sense, popular proposals to keep guns out of individuals’ hands who wish to do harm, including universal background checks, a 48 hour waiting period for handgun purchases, a bump stock ban and lethal violence protection orders, which allow family members and law enforcement to petition to a court to temporarily remove a gun from an individual who may be violent. In response, Rep. Taylor (D-Madison) issued the following statement:
“There is a wave coming. A tidal wave of young people wanting gun safety laws. My GOP colleagues don’t hear them. There is a youth tsunami coming that my Republican colleagues refuse to see. My Republican colleagues are on the wrong side. They should be standing up for our children and not remaining in the death grip of the NRA.”
