School funding, surpluses, and workforce at historic levels

Madison – Today, Rep. Thiesfeldt (R-Fond du Lac) shared his thoughts on the eighth of Gov. Walker’s annual State of the State addresses.

“Wisconsin is doing well and the state of our state is historically strong. There has been an evident, sharp and decisive turnaround since 2010. Unemployment hit a record low of 3% in December, projections of surpluses continue to roll in, rainy day funds continue to climb, we have a historically-high $11.5 billion investment in K-12 education, fraud and waste in state programs is shrinking, UW tuition continues to be frozen, and businesses continue to locate in Wisconsin. We are experiencing economic optimism that hasn’t been seen in 20 years.

I look forward to finishing up this session by providing more fuel to the growing optimism for WI’s future.” Thiesfeldt concluded.
