Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) released the following statement after the Department of Workforce Development awarded more than $700,000 in worker training grants to Racine County and the Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce. The grants are administered through the Wisconsin Fast Forward program that has awarded more than $25 million in grant contracts to roughly 200 projects since 2014.
“With the rapid job growth in southeastern Wisconsin, these grants will help employers find the skilled workers they desperately need and the unemployed and underemployed to land family-supporting careers. I’m proud of what’s being accomplished through state, county and local coordination. These Fast Forward worker training grants are making a difference and in essence, are a large welcome mat for people who are looking for work in Wisconsin.”
Worker training information will be available at a Racine County Job Fest on Thursday, October 18th at the Veterans Terrace in Burlington from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The job fair will also promote employment opportunities at the family-friendly event.
