Milwaukee—Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement on Gov. Walker signing three anti-democratic bills into law that will limit the powers of the incoming governor and attorney general:
“Gov. Walker should be ashamed. Instead of leaving office with dignity and respecting the will of the voters, he signed bills into law that make sure his Republican friends hold on to power. The people of Wisconsin voted out Republicans in every statewide office, but the GOP has decided that their one-party rule should continue no matter what the election results.
“I’m also heartbroken that early voting will now be limited. A thriving democracy depends on as many people voting as possible. We need to make voting easy and accessible. Voter suppression should not be used as a political tool.
“The people of Wisconsin have said what they want loud and clear. It’s too bad Gov. Walker wasn’t listening.”
