MADISON, WI — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kelda Roys has received the endorsement of Assembly Representative JoCasta Zamarripa, the first Latina woman elected to Wisconsin Legislature and one of only 3 openly LGBT members of the State Assembly.

“I’m so excited to endorse Kelda Roys because we need a governor who stands up and fights for every Wisconsinite,” said Zamarripa. “Wisconsinites have had enough of the divide-and-conquer politics of the last eight years. Kelda Roys has been a champion for LGBT rights throughout her life, and has stood with marginalized communities – including the Latino community. I know she is the best candidate in this race to bring Wisconsinites together, heal our divisions, and make our state a place of opportunity and fairness once more.”

Roys has previously been endorsed by many national and state organizations and leaders, including NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Organization for Women – Wisconsin, Demand Universal Healthcare, Rep. Amanda Stuck, and former Sen. Jess King.

“I’m extremely grateful to Representative Zamarripa for her support,” said Roys. “From her work fighting for healthcare at Planned Parenthood to her leadership in the Assembly to her barrier-shattering campaigns, Rep. Zamarripa is an inspiration to me and so many Wisconsinites.”
